What Splitpad is
Splitpad is a collaborative apartment-hunting tool for roommate groups: a shared board of listings, plus the “Splitpad Clipper” Chrome extension that saves a listing to your board in one click while you browse. This page covers both.
What we collect
- Account info: the email address and password (or Google account) you sign up with.
- Board content: apartment listings you or your roommates add — address, price, beds/baths, amenities, photos, notes, and ratings — plus an activity log of who changed what.
- From the extension:when you save a listing from a supported site (currently StreetEasy), the same fields above are read from the page and sent to your board. The extension only reads pages on that site’s domain — it has no access to any other site you visit.
How your login is shared with the extension
When you sign in through a tab the extension opened, Splitpad hands the extension your session (an access token and a refresh token) over a private browser-to-extension channel that only the Splitpad Clipper extension can receive — it is never broadcast to the page or visible to other extensions. The extension stores that session in Chrome ’s local extension storage on your device so you stay signed in, and clears it immediately if you click “Sign out” in the popup.
Who sees your data
Your data is stored in our database (Supabase) and is visible only to you and the other members of boards you belong to. We do not sell data, run ads, or share it with third parties. We do not use any analytics or tracking scripts.
Your controls
You can delete any apartment, leave or delete a board, and update your profile from Settings inside the app. Uninstalling the Chrome extension removes everything it stored locally on your device.
